DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL

Download the ProdLib installer and run it.
Follow the installation instructions.
Installation requires administrative rights.
After installation, a ProdLib icon will appear in your system tray at the bottom right corner of your desktop.

REGISTER YOUR ACCOUNT

After installation the ProdLib ‘Library Manager’ will open automatically.
Select a manufacturer whose content you want to download.
You will now be asked to log in or register. Select ‘register’ and fill out the form with the required details. Make sure to add a valid email address.
After submitting the form you will receive a confirmation email. Click on the link in the email to activate your account.

GET MANUFACTURER CONTENT

Open the Library Manager by clicking on the ProdLib system tray icon and selecting ‘Library manager’.
Select ‘Available libraries’ from the tabs at the top. You will see an overview of all the available manufacturer libraries on the ProdLib service.
Simply select the manufacturer you want and click on the ‘install’ button to download and install their product library.
After installation, the library will appear in the ‘Installed libraries’ tab. From there you can update and manage any libraries you have installed.

INSERT PRODUCTS INTO YOUR MODEL

Open the Library Browser by clicking on the ProdLib system tray icon and selecting 'Browse Libraries'.
Alternatively, open the integrated library browser inside AutoCAD or Revit.
Select the library you want to use. Once opened, find the product you want by browsing the menu on left.
Select your product and either click the 'Insert' button or drag and drop the model directly into your design software.

Questions and Answers

Connection problems

There are two possible reasons that can normally block the network traffic.

1. Firewall is blocking the traffic. Depending on where you launching the registering user interface from, you need to allow that exe-file to pass through the firewall. You should allow Tcp port 80 and 443. There are 4 possibilities:
- ProdLib.StandAlone.exe (in C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\ApplicationPlugins\ProdLib.bundle)
- ProdLib.exe (in C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\ApplicationPlugins\ProdLib.bundle)
- acad.exe (where AutoCAD is installed)
- Revit.exe (where Revit is installed)
It's recommended to unblock all of the above. Also the UpdateChecker.exe (in C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\ApplicationPlugins\ProdLib.bundle) is recommended to unblock, if you need to be able to receive update-notifications about new library- or software updates.

2. Proxy-server is blocking the traffic. If your company is using a proxy-server, please check how to configure the settings in the question below

Configuring ProdLib to use a Proxy-server

Proxy settings are specified by editing the user settings file:

C:\Users\~USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\ProdLib\ProdLib\Settings.xml.

If you can’t see a file there, create the file and copy the content below into it.
See the sample with test values below. Username and Password are not required for proxies allowing anonymous access

Installation parameters (mass deployment)

The ProdLib setup program accepts optional command line parameters. All available parameters can be displayed with the /HELP-parameter (ProdLibSetup.exe /HELP). These can be useful to system administrators, and to other programs calling the setup program.

Some of the most useful are the /SILENT- and /VERYSILENT-parameters, which enables system administrators to run a mass deployment of the software. There are no other important parameters concerning the mass deployment. Just remember to run it with elevated rights.

Downloading and using the application is free and it always will be.

How do I install ProdLib?

Simply download the installer file from the homepage. If you have any troubles during installation, please find the installation instructions here.

Why do I have to register?

Don’t worry, you won’t receive any spam mail from us!

The registration is only for analytic purposes, so that we can optimize the application for our users.

All BIM objects are tested by ProdLib

Most of the Revit content available in the ProdLib application was created by us. And even if the content is done by somebody else, we check that everything is correct. Revit content is saved for each supported version of Revit so that we can be sure that content works correctly in each new version and without the need for users to upgrade models when opening them.

What are the software requirements?

The application currently supports Revit, AutoCAD and AutoCAD LT.

We will always support at least the most recent three editions of the software.
At the moment we support Autodesk software versions 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016.

Do I have to install product libraries that I don’t need?

How do I update the product libraries?

When a manufacturer launches new products on the market, we will provide an update for you. In the library manager you can easily update the product library to stay always up-to-date with the newest content.

How do I update ProdLib?

ProdLib will notify you in the Windows Notification area when there's an update available. There will also be an update icon in the Library Manager. Simply click the icon to start the updating process.
